8 Simple Ways to Find Balance

8 Simple Ways to Find Balance Simple things can motivate and inspire us to feel better. When we feel better, we do better and so have better life experiences. Here are 8 activities that are doable, yet simple, and will make a massive difference in your achievement of a balanced life. 1. Give gratitude: If you are reading this, you can breathe! You have use of your senses! You are able to comprehend! Think of what you have around you - the things you possess, a roof over your head, a bed to lie in, clothes to wear. By acknowledging and giving gratitude, this creates the energy for more good things to flow into your life. What do you give gratitude for? 2. Smile! Try this - SMILE. That's right: SMILE! Don't you feel better already?! Think of a wonderful experience, a happy moment, holidays, fun time spent with family or friends. Too often, we dwell on thoughts that are non-supportive to our positive well-being. Smiling stimulates the manufacture of serotonin in the br...

Why it's important to step into fear!

Image
Last week, I stepped massively out of my comfort zone and into the unknown realms of my stretch zone! Being thrown into a situation where I worked with colleagues and students I had not met before, to contribute to the delivery of an intense GCSE revision course, required me to draw on a wealth of skills and strategies. In that challenging situation, I ‘felt the fear and did it anyway’! (Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway - Susan Jeffers). In one situation, a haughty colleague with a bellowing voice and looming stature, openly challenged my authority in front of the class of students. The dynamics that resulted from the interaction of the BIG PERSONALITIES of both staff and students, meant that in every single moment, I had to be conscious of my own interaction and how this could impact on the course being a calamitous disaster or wildly successful! I recall reflecting on the skills I deliver on the courses I run, in particular, How to Master Change in Challenging...

How to Be Driven to Live Your Vision

Your personal vision can seem to be ‘way out there’. It may seem like a dream or imagination that entices and excites you, arouses and allures you – like a lover who you yearn to be with. Because your vision never leaves you. It periodically re-presents itself in a similar form or fashion throughout your life. If this metaphor resonates with you, the question to ask yourself right now is this:   “How much do I want to give life to m...
THE MAGIC OF SELF TALK is the term I’ve given to the particular words or phrases that a client uses which either raises or lowers their energy levels.  As the Coach, I can really feel this in sessions as there’s a distinct shift in the client's state.   As if by magic, a word or statement that’s expressed has a profound effect on a client during a session. This isn’t always positive or empowering, so as your coach who is here to support you to be and do your very best, I will gently challenge you by saying something along the lines of: “Stop for a moment!” Then I prompt the client to reflect on the word or statement used that expresses a particular dis-empowering belief. By being conscious of the language that trigger’s a disempowering belief, the client is then able to work through some stuff and get on track. There’s a better chance of the staying on track with understanding of the language patterns that trigger a particular state of being.  So let’s no addr...
